Milkmilk (Mosquito Dreaming from Ramingining)

This is a Dreaming story from Bundatharri, an outstation of Ramingining in Yolngu-speaking East Arnhem Land. The oval form is a waterhole at Bundatharri, where two boys drowned in the Dreamtime. They became Milkmilk, mosquitos, and to this day there are lots of mosquitos in this place. The boys’ mother and father may also be depicted looking for them, alongside mosquitos or mosquito larvae. It is a Dhuwa moiety Dreaming site, and people drink the water from the waterhole.
