Manmorlak (Billy Goat Plum)

Manmorlak (the billy goat plum, Terminalia ferdinandiana) has edible fruits. It flowers, then takes a while for the fruits to ripen. We eat the ripe fruits that fall to the ground. We find it growing in open woodlands, as well as on hills, rocky areas and gravelly country (kudjehdjedjelk). Children today don’t know much about bush foods, they just get takeaway and shop food. But the old people used to gather and eat this food.
