Mandjurrukkumarlba (Antidesma ghaesembilla) is a tree with small berries like black currants. The fruit is ready to eat the berries turn to black. This happens during Kudjewk, the monsoon season which runs from January to March. We see lots of mandjurrukkumarlba growing along the creeks and on the rocky country. There is a another tree that got black berries we call it manwirdu and it tastes a lot like mandjurrukkumarlba. We see lots of these two trees here at Oenpelli/ Gunbalanya but we know which is mandjurrukkumarlba and which is manwirdu. People collect them and eat them the children love eating bush berries.
