Injalak Arts has some exciting news, we will be opening a pop-up shop at the Border Store in Kakadu National Park, from Wednesday 15 June.

Finally, there will be an ethical place to buy authentic Indigenous art in Kakadu National Park! The outlet will sell paintings on bark and paper, weavings and sculpture as well as hand-screen printed fabric lengths.

Customers of Injalak Arts at Border Store will be safe in the knowledge that their purchases are contributing to an Indigenous-Owned charitable non-profit organisation. Injalak Arts plays a central role in the artistic and cultural life of traditional Aboriginal artists living in remote communities in western Arnhem Land. Injalak Arts is an outstanding example of a community organisation that delivers positive social, economic and cultural outcomes for its members.

Gunbalanya is 12kms away from the Border Store, but COVID-19 has limited the accessibility of communities in Arnhem Land to visitors. The NLC is not issuing recreational permits to visit communities in Arnhem Land this year. Though you can book tours of rock art sites in Arnhem Land at the Border Store or at this website:

The Border Store is conveniently located near Cahill’s Crossing and Ubirr Rock Art site.

Opening times:

Monday to Friday from 10am to 5pm

Saturday and Sunday 10am to 4pm
