We’ve been open for just over a (very eventful) month. This is the time of year for back of house tidy ups. Stocktake is now finished! We have more than 8,500 items of stock that have individual catalogue numbers that need to be matched with our database. We have thousands more self-produced items that need counting such as lengths of fabric, bags, books and thongs. It’s laborious! and took 5 teams four days of counting. We documented it in a facebook photo album. It is impossible for us to take stock mid-year when we are being inundated with visitors and trade 6-7 days a week. Wet season (no customers) is the ideal time. We have also been working on some videos, planning a new crowdfunding campaign for a booklet about Injalak Hill Rock Art & Tour, printing lots of fabric featured in a facebook album that is being regularly updated and restocking our online Etsy Shop and we now have more than 300 items for sale there. Get it on! 2018 is now underway with 35 outstanding participants and some beautiful items made already. Follow it with #getiton2018 and on facebook in a facebook album. Meanwhile we’ve got some AMAZING art walking in the door every day as our artists prepare for the Telstra NATSIAA and other art competitions.
Another behind the scenes activity is a bold new Injalak Arts initiative called Provenance Arts, to be opened in Darwin for the dry season. We promise, this is HUGE …. more news of that coming soon.
