We’re catching our breath after a HUGE month in August. The Darwin Aboriginal Art Fair was our best ever and over three days we met so many old and new friends and did fantastic sales. Congratulations to the organisers for another amazing event. (PS: dates are up for 2019 so put it in your diary for next year!!) Once again our fabrics and fabric products were highly sought after. It’s not unusual to see gorgeous women, and the occasional child and man, around Darwin wearing clothing made from our fabrics. Always gives us a buzz of pride. We had to give our Etsy Shop a little holiday but are now open again and will be gradually restocking as things grow quieter in Gunbalanya. At Injalak Arts we had so many visitors on site – it kept us very busy and happily so. Meanwhile, site preparation work has started for our new screenprint workshop/community heritage hub/cafe building. This has been in the planning for more than 4 years and is finally getting close to being built. We are delighted to be working again with GT Builders.
Provenance Arts, our space in Darwin, did its first full month of trading and we had a blast. We also launched our events program and discovered that our Provenance Arts’ experience space is ideal for workshops and discussions and other events. We have soooo many plans. This space is becoming a very special destination for the people of Darwin and visitors from around the world – a true hub.
