The kuluybirr or saratoga is one of Australia’s original and most ancient native fish species. Its sliver scales are highlighted by striking flecks of green and red colour around the gills. These fish have significance as totems to some Aboriginal clan groups in the region but here it is depicted in x-ray style, internal organs showing, which indicates this fish is game rather than one of spiritual significance.
