Welcome to Injalak Arts Centre, a captivating hub of creativity nestled in the heart of Gunbalanya, in Australia’s Northern Territory.

Lorraine Kabbindi White is a Kunmok artist from the Mok clan estate in the Western Arnhem Plateau.

Born in Garramilla/Darwin, Kabbindi grew up in Kakadu and Western Arnhem Land, spending time with family across Jabiru, Gunbalanya and the remote homeland communities of Kamarrkawarn and Kabulwarnamyo.

Kabulwarnamyo was established by her grandfather – the renowned artist and leader, the late Bardayal ‘Lofty’ Nadjamerrek AO. Kabbindi’s grandparents, Mary Koliwarra Nadjamerrek and Lofty played a key role in her upbringing – sharing a knowledge of Country and artistic values with her.

In 2010, the year after Lofty passed away, the Museum of Contemporary Arts commissioned Kabbindi as well as some of her relatives to undertake a large-scale mural to coincide with Lofty’s retrospective exhibition. In 2012, Kabbindi held her first solo exhibition Kundenge bok (Footsteps) at Qdos Fine Arts in Lorne, Victoria. Throughout the past decade, Kabbindi has exhibited in numerous exhibitions and prizes including Salon Des Refuses, Nomad Art Gallery and Lauraine Diggins Fine Art. In 2023, Kabbindi presented another sold-out solo exhibition at Outstation Gallery in Parap, NT.

Alongside her artistic career, Kabbindi is currently a daluk ranger working for Warddeken Land Management in Kabulwarnamyo.
