Explore our rock art
Injalak Arts has been given exclusive permission by the Traditional Owners to facilitate Rock Art Tours led by trained local guides. Our tours take you to renowned Injalak Hill, a superb sandstone monolith, rich in ancient rock art with five key sites or ‘galleries’ and many more incidental paintings. The tour also encompasses majestic panoramic views of the floodplains and the escarpment as the hill is elevated.
Tours take place in the morning and are approximately 3 hours in duration.
GETTING HERE

Self drive to Gunbalanya
Lot 383, Gunbalanya NT 0822
Injalak is an easy 50 minute drive from Jabiru through stunning landscapes. Customers are welcome to visit us during the dry season if they have their own vehicles. The drive is spectacularly scenic and although a 4WD is recommended the 17 km dirt road from Cahill’s Crossing to Gunbalanya can be driven in a conventional car. The turn-off to Gunbalanya (Oenpelli) is clearly marked. Once in Gunbalanya drive to the T-intersection and turn right, Injalak is the only long building on the left.
Travelling by road to Gunbalanya from East Alligator Ranger Station requires crossing a river that is seasonal and also affected by tides. We suggest you check tide times for Cahill’s Crossing prior to arrival.
PERMITS
Permits to visit Gunbalanya must be arranged in advance via Northern Land Council in Darwin or Jabiru.
