Djakarna is the graceful jabiru (also known as the Black-necked Stork) is Australias only stork. These water birds are a common sight in western Arnhem Land and Kakadu National Park. Female birds are easily identified by their bright yellow eyes, while the males have brown. They are of great cultural significance to the Kunwinjku people of Gunbalanya (Oenpelli). When painted in the classic Kunwinjku “x-ray” style, with their internal organs, it indicates they are regarded as game than that of totemic significance.
