Saw Fish, Nail Fish and Barramundi

Saltwater sceneThe subject of the painting are some of the numerous fish found in rivers and coastal areas in the artist’s country. They are a major source of food for the Kunwinjku people who live in and around Oenpelli in Arnhem Land in the Northern Territory of Australia. The animals depicted are namarnkol (barramundi), namarddakka (nailfish), and a saw fish.
