Girl’s traditional skirt

Connie Nayinggul

This skirt is made from mandjowh (bark from the acacia tree), these skirts were worn traditionally by girls when they were becoming a woman. They wore it around their waste and some wore it around their busts.

The same string was used to make armbands for women to wear during women’s ceremony.(Story by Connie Nayinggul)
